PTA Hardfacing for the Oil & Gas Industry

Clients from all different industries count on Durum USA to provide hardfacing and powders for the highest levels of protection and corrosion resistance. We offer versatile blending capabilities, and will diversify our product line in order to meet our customers’ needs. This was exemplified in the project detailed here. We contracted with a client in the oil, gas, and drilling industry to hardface tools, drill pipe, and other non-magnetic materials. We used non-magnetic and custom-blended powders for hardfacing on a number of different parts and components. These included stabilizer blades, adjustable rings, wear pads and non-magnetic parts. Our specially combined alloys provided specific surfacing properties that were not obtainable with other coating methods. The materials we used also included PTA welding powders and fused spherical and crushed tungsten carbides. We hardfaced these products using our Durweld 300 Mobile PTA system, which included PTA Torch 300M, 300AUT, 400AUT, and a Powder Feeder PFU 4. Our customer was very pleased with their final results, including the durability and clean appearance of our work, as well as our short turnaround times. We offer lead times that average just 3 to 7 days depending on quantity and grinding requirements. Finally, our hardfacing is of the highest quality. We regularly meet or exceed many stringent industry standards, including AWS and ASME section IX.
